Mindfulness Hrvatska is pleased to again host our 8-week introductory course in mindfulness. The course, created by the UK-based Mindfulness Association (MA), is called the Mindfulness Based Living Course (MBLC). The course has continuously run very successfully since it was first introduced in Zagreb in 2017. The MBLC is offered both as an online course and an ‘in-person’ course in Gornji Grad, Zagreb.
Previous participants in the MBLC have said:
“Thank you for opening a new world to me”.
“I really liked the weekly follow up after each session with plenty of links, articles and audio files”.
“I remember mindfulness everyday and try to include it in my everyday life and activities”.
“I was satisfied with everything. The teaching was clear so I could understand all of it.”
“I have become more aware of my thoughts and habitual reactions”.
“I have learned that sometimes it is just enough to become aware of what is going on inside me – then acceptance just happens. I don’t have that feeling of senselessness that I use to have before and to me that is the greatest achievement.”
“Tutor is great – inspirational and suggestive. There are many materials, especially audio materials. The manual describes the exercises simply and clearly.”
“Being mindful means being more alive!”
“To be honest, this course surpassed my expectations”.
“Now I don’t just meditate mindfully, I have started introducing mindfulness in almost every activity I do and there is a big difference in quality of my life before and now.”
The course is for people with no prior experience and also for people who already practice Mindfulness. It is a comprehensive introduction to practicing mindfulness meditation. Mindfulness is a secular practice which involves no religious beliefs or affiliations. In 2020, the MBLC, both in-person and online, is taught by Dr David McMurtry, an experienced mindfulness teacher, Emeritus University professor and currently President of ‘Mindfulness Hrvatska’. David lives in Zagreb, Croatia.
The MBLC is recognised as an eight week course in the UK Good Practice Guidelines (Bamba.org). It is also listed by ‘Mindfulness in Schools’ as an eligible pre-requisite course for beginning the .b or Paws.b course for teachers (see https://mindfulnessinschools.org/prerequisites/dot-b/).
The MBLC is comparable to other 8-week courses such as Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) or ‘BreathWorks’.
